So how do I work?

I offer individually tailored programmes of learning to anyone over the age of 16. As such, it is necessary to carry out an assessment of your current skills and to identify where there may be gaps in your knowledge. It is also vital that I learn what it is that you need to do in order to achieve your ultimate goal. This allows us to develop an overall plan to work through that can be broken down into smaller, achievable objectives.

The assessment is a combination of an informal chat and you taking a diagnostic assessment.  This will not be done as a test but with me sitting with you as you complete it and you able to ask any questions you want to.  This is my preferred way of conducting this task as it enables me to see what you can do easily and what you may not find quite so easy to complete, thus identifying areas for us to work on in our sessions.

Once the assessment is complete we will consider the best way forward.  We will discuss and agree a timeframe and how many sessions are likely to be needed.  I have to advise at this stage that it is not an exact science and there will need to be a small degree of flexibility as the plan progresses.

The initial assessment session should take around 1 1/2 – 2 hours to complete and can be done either at your home (I do charge travelling time however) or if you prefer you can come to my office. It’s important that you feel comfortable, so it’s ultimately your decision.

Once we have agreed a plan then we will arrange a schedule to suit you for your sessions. These will be an hour in length. The number of sessions needed is entirely dependent on your individual needs and will need to be agreed by you (subject to any minor tweaks along the way).
